Professional Skate Sharpening
Figure and Hockey
Official Skate Sharpener of the Capital Theatre On Ice Teams
Learning a specific movement and being able to repeat it with accuracy makes a skater successful.
Skaters spend thousands of dollars on ice time, lessons, & equipment, and hours of practicing to do just that. If a skater is continually adjusting their technique to compensate for poor sharpening, they simply will not be successful. And think of all the time and money wasted!
“Dan, why should I pay more for your sharpening when I can get it cheaper at this other place?” a skater asked.
Without hesitation, I responded, “Because I guarantee that the radius you request will be correct, your edges will be square, and I will not wreck your blades by changing the rocker, rolling off the heal, or removing the toe pick.”
The skater decided to give me a chance. Upon receiving the skates, I noticed that indeed the blades had been ruined from bad sharpening. Both blades had a large flat spot behind the toepicks making proper turns, spins, and edges almost impossible. I squared off the edges so the skater could glide in a straight line while waiting for a new pair.

Investing in good sharpening will ensure that your blades remain in tip top shape.
