Dan was four years old when he saw Scott Hamilton dressed in a chicken outfit on Champions on Ice, laughing till he had tears in his eyes. Since then comedy has been the main focus in his skating career. He was a full cast member of COI from 2000 until it closed in 2007, and continues to perform making audiences laugh world wide.

This year Sun Valley decided on a western theme. I have always loved the song “Dearly Beloved” by Faith Hill. It is all about this shot gun wedding in which everyone is flirting with everyone else, with the main part being, “They’ll be together forever till they find somebody new.” It just cracks me up.

I feel this is my most creative story line routine to date. I was at the NJS (now simply called IJS) seminar and decided to do a routine that would spoof our sport. I mean come on, we were forced to create a new system because of the corruption in judging, what’s not to laugh about? I wanted to include the Nancy incident, the French judge, and a few other ideas. Then I figured I would need it commentated like you were watching TV. I wrote the script and had Jon Drew, the COI announcer, do it for me. I practiced it all summer in Sun Valley. Everybody told me it was good number, but it would GREAT if I could get Dick Button to do the commentating. A quick phone call to Dick, and guess what, a few weeks later it was done. Thank you Mr. Button, for making this one of my best routines. I am forever in your debt.
